Dell Rapids City Hall

Dell Rapids, SD

The City of Dell Rapids has moved! This 9,000 square foot building is conveniently located on 4th Street, the main business road through Dell Rapids. It had previously housed a Wells Fargo (hence the vault door on the conference room), but after an extensive remodel, it’s now the new home of the Dell Rapids City Hall. Designed to accommodate the city’s recent and continuing growth, the building has been equipped with plenty of office space for the Chamber of Commerce, law enforcement, and the Sioux Metro Growth Alliance to use. The basement was transformed into a large, rentable event space, complete with a prep kitchen and full bar. Here, community members can host gatherings like wedding receptions, family reunions, or corporate events.

Along with performing as the general contractor on this project, Empire Building Construction also self-performed much of the work. The project began with the demolition of the existing walls, floors, and acoustical ceilings. We also removed a trench of concrete in the basement to make way for the installation of the new plumbing system and then repoured it. In the new addition, we poured the concrete foundation and floors, and framed the structural steel. We also did the framing for the new chambers horseshoe desk and for the bar downstairs. Throughout the building, we installed casework, cabinets, and countertops, as well as new doors and hardware.
